If both the KC10s and a C130 land that will probably 3 more US mil than you are likely to see at the show!

Parking was always on base until 9/11 happened, then with the maximum security fencing in place it reduced the amount of space RIAT had, although there was still some on base parking the majority was subsequently in the fields, I usually managed to time my arrival on the Green route well at around 8am and was directed through the gate and to the on base parking throughout the recent maximum security years, I am glad we now have more on base parking once again as it makes life much easier for everyone! Oh by the way at Fairford there is still ample space for plenty of heavies with all on base parking!

If you delete 'heavies' from US heavies I think that would be very accurate.

Tell that to those controlling the US military budget! Nothing the guys at RIAT can do about it.

With the budget cuts and wars going on around the world it is what it is and Atleast with the Super Hornet, F-35's and P-8, we've got some great modern US military assetts attending.

SPECIAL FLYPASTS CONFIRMED!
On Friday 11 July the RAF Red Arrows will be joined by the team leaders of the Patrouille de France, Frecce Tricolori, Patrouille Suisse and the Breitling Jet Team for a spectacular debut flypast in UK skies!
On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July we also have a special flypast to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day when an RAF Typhoon and a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Official) will fly together, both in their D-Day markings.

Folks
I found out today that the F35s will not be coming on Sunday after all, because of the fire. The US want to get them cleared to attend. As soon as I get a new date and time, and I can tell you, I will.

No contradictions here, the article states 3 USMC F35Bs have left Yuma today for 'a base in southern Maryland' (probably Patuxent River) as the first leg of their trip to the UK, a trip that is probably going to take a couple of days just to cross the states. Presumably the RAF F35B will travel up from Eglin to meet up and make it 4 as reported elsewhere. Somewhere they will pick up the tanker support, probably McGuire based Kc10s and start the trip. There is a NOTAM for an altitude reservation posted for Monday (was Sunday)
viewtopic.php?f=139&p=627814#p627564. I also heard the delay was primarily down to weather concerns en-route and not due to the F35A engine problem. Just need to keep ears tuned and watch for two tankers eastbound from USA with the 'chicks' in tow.
