Thats a cracking picture!

I think its the fact that we had three pull out of RIAT last year for reasons beyond their control that is making me look forward too its return this year....

The Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy has confirmed that its helicopter display team, the Black Cats, will be appearing at the Air Tattoo for the first time in seven years. The team is again equipped with two examples of the Lynx HMA.8 maritime helicopter for the 2016 season after a year on the new Wildcat. Also being provided by the Navy are single examples of the Hawk T.1 and King Air Avenger, both for static display, from 736 and 750 Naval Air Squadrons respectively.

Today's full update
We are continuing to work closely with representatives from the RAF, US Marine Corps and US Air Force and can confirm that it is the intention for RIAT 2016 to feature two USMC F-35Bs and one RAF F-35B. In addition, we're working with the USAF on plans to feature the Heritage Flight formation flypast on all three Air Tattoo days. The ambition is for this to comprise an F-35A, F-22 and a maximum of two historic airframes. More details to follow.

We are aware that many Air Tattoo visitors will be keen to see the F-35 Lightning II on the ground as well as in the air. We continue to work toward securing the appearance of at least one F-35 into the southside operational area, when possible, during periods over the three-day airshow.

Always a great supporter of the Air Tattoo, the Royal Netherlands Air Force looks set to return in force in 2016 with a quartet of heavies for the static display including a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, a C-130 Hercules and one of two Douglas KDC-10 tanker jets. They will also be joined by a Dornier 228 of the Netherlands Coastguard.

In addition to the Swedish Air Force JAS39C Gripen in the flying display, we can confirm there will also be an example of the twin-seat JAS 39D variant on static display.

Dutch Confirm for Air Tattoo!

A strong supporter of the Air Tattoo for decades, the Netherlands Air Force is poised to send a large contingent of aircraft to this year's show.

Appearing in the static display will be a Boeing CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter.

The Chinook will be joined by a pair of heavyweights, the C-130 Hercules airlifter and the distinctive three-engined KDC-10 transport/tanker jet, both of which are flown from Eindhoven in Central Holland.

In addition to these on static display we will also have a Dornier 228 twin-turboprop patrol aircraft which is flown in the colours of the Netherlands Coast Guard by air force and navy pilots.
Fingers crossed for a CH-47F, although some of the info from DBH suggests a 'D'

For the second year running, the Air Tattoo will welcome the French Air Force's exciting Ramex Delta tactical demonstration team of two Mirage 2000Ns from Escadron de Chasse 2/4 'Lafayette' at Istres. Joining them on the programme will be the return of the air arm's solo Dassault Rafale C display, a multiple Air Tattoo award-winner on past occasions.

The Spanish Air Force has now confirmed that the previously notified Eurofighter EF2000 will be on static display at Air Tattoo 2016.

We're pleased to welcome back our friends and staunch Air Tattoo supporters from the Royal Jordanian Air Force, who will be sending a C-130H Hercules for static display.

Great to see both the RD and Rafale back although more excited for the Rafale solo than the Ramex Delta  After the first couple of passes the RD is mundane, look forward to raiding their stall though

This year's RIAT is building into something special. So many awesome jets confirmed flying!
For me this week's update is best so far, was lucky to see Ramex Delta last year and thought they were outstanding. Still to see the Rafale in the air so this excites me!

If DBH keeps giving us these type of updates weekly then this year could become on of the best shows in recent memory.

Glad bought tickets early and roll on July and let's hope it's a scorcher of a weekend for photos!
