If it was a mistake, why would RIAT put it on their website and send it by email?Thor wrote:I think that may be a mistake.welshandy wrote:I wonder why only the FridayChrisC wrote:On airtattoo website and recent email looks like the KC-130J refuelling demo with F-35B is only on the Friday. Dont think it was listed as Friday only previously?
As I understand things, the USMC example* will display with the refuelling demo and vertical landing as part of its routine, the USAF example* will display with the heritage flight as part of its routine. Both routines will be flown on all 3 public days as far as I'm aware.
* there will be 2 USMC airframes & 2 USAF airframes - primary & spare, only one of which will fly each day - plus the RAF example which is solely for static if I've read things correctly.
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Its not a new thing having friday only acts. Not missing much anyway if its like previous refuel "demo's" consisting of 1 flypast and thats it.

No idea as I didn't do the website update or email, but that's rather the point of mistakes isn't it? I may be wrong, and it may be genuinely a one-day-only thing - possibly a demo to some LM VIP guests or something similar - but I did double-check with my source and he was under the impression it was on all 3 days.BrizeWatcher wrote: If it was a mistake, why would RIAT put it on their website and send it by email?
I suppose we'll just have to wait until the Saturday to find out.

LATEST UPDATE: 12/05/16
It has been confirmed that a P-51D Mustang will take part in the USAF Heritage Flight formation at RIAT 2016 alongside an F-22A Raptor and F-35A Lightning II. The identity of the Mustang in question and its operator are still to be confirmed.
Flying in the display on the Friday of RIAT 2016 only will be the ex-Royal Air Force of Oman BAC Strikemaster Mk82A operated from Hawarden by North Wales Military Aviation Services, and flown by Mark Petrie.
An increasingly rare sight at airshows due to operational commitments, an RAF C-130J Hercules will appear in the RIAT 2016 static park. Brize Norton-based No 47 Squadron is providing the aircraft, which will wear special markings to celebrate the unit's centenary this year.
RIAT 2016's official celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Air Training Corps will include a gathering of six gliders and motorgliders operated by the Air Cadets through the ages. Exhibited at the eastern end of the showground will be historic Slingsby Kirby Cadet, Grasshopper, Sedbergh and Venture, and modern Grob Viking and Vigilant types.

I know the purest won't like them but according to their web page the Breitling Wingwalkers will be taking part, I for one hope it will be the four-ship like 2014.

I love noise of the Boeing Stearman as it's prop breaks the sound barrier. (But it's still "Cup of tea" time for me)....

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Another solid update this week, great to see Air Cadets involved seeing as I used to be one. Always happy to see the Brize Herc - looking forward to the special tail. Gutted Strikemaster is Friday only as love that little jet, shame I'm travelling down otherwise I'd look at buying a Friday ticket! [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
Isn't it about time the static started filling up? Seems light in comparison to previous years.
Hoping next few weeks are nice big updates, fingers crossed for some amazing surprises.
So far excited is an understatement, weekly updates are becoming an obsession seeing what we have confirmed so far!

I see that the 45 Squadron King Air is still listed as flying but twitter and Facebook feeds are saying that it isn't due to a flight safety concern.
Let's hope that the weather plays ball as I'm there on the Saturday

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
I don't know if this has already been posted but I've noticed that the RAF F35 which was due at RIAT has been taken off the list of confirmed aircraft anybody any ideas why?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
It was never on there I believe.
The official list has only displayed the American F-35's participating.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
I'd appreciate your thoughts please...do you think viewing will be possible from the 27 end on Whelford / Kempsford road during all days ?
We are camping near Whelford, and have tickets for Saturday/Sunday, but wondering whether we can do same as 2 years ago when we last attended, and view from the road Thursday/Friday ?
If not - I need to thinking of other stuff for the family to be doing on the non-ticket days (stay onsite I suppose)
Thanks
