Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread

Soooo... It's getting closer now, what are everyones plans this year? I am arriving on Wens and doing my usual stay at the caravan and motor home field, near the fuel storage area. Going in on the Friday, this year though, going into the disabled viewing area as wife is not well, so that's a new one for us.... At least I get to decide where I stop on the statics as I'm driving the wheelchair ... Then it's watching the Sat and Sun shows from the caravan, in an awesome place to view.... Last year's Spanish Harrier was directly above us when coming in for his hover display ....

The accessible enclosure is in a very good location right next to the FRIAT grandstand on the centreline. It the enclosure I use due to my mobility issues.

Will I need to take a seat in for myself? Or do they have them there?

I think you’ll find that Sigonella is in Sicily, Italy. Rota is in Spain and Souda is in Greece. All three have permanent support facilities to support continuous deployments. On a side note Rota also has HSM-79 permanently based there operating the MH-60.

Indeed it is, but digging the garden and prepping for laying paving slabs destroyed me yesterday.....

F-15QA demo has just been confirmed on Instagram and on the air tattoo website.

“ We're so excited about this addition to the RIAT flying display, we couldn't wait until Thursday!

The Boeing F-15QA Ababil will be flying on all three days of RIAT 2024! This jet, operated by the Qatar Emiri Air Force, will be flown by Boeing test pilots to showcase the power and agility of this new variant of the popular F-15 Eagle family. This is the first time we've seen a F-15QA at RIAT, and the first time we've seen any kind of F-15 perform a solo flying display routine at RIAT since 2007. A sincere thanks to our sponsors at Boeing for providing this display, which will likely be a highlight of this year's event.”

Why it's always good to have a little find and read things

We are very pleased to announce that Boeing will be providing the F-15QA to take part in the flying display at RIAT 2024. The flying display will include a pair of aircraft in Qatari Emiri Air Force colours and each aircraft will perform a solo display on different days of the show. The first aircraft will be configured ‘clean’ to show off the maximum performance of the aircraft, the second will be configured in a combat configuration to demonstrate how little the aircrafts performance is affected when carrying weapons. Both displays will be flown by Boeing test pilots.

Alternatively it's a good reason to put the same information in all places, especially when you can only get replied to in the places you limit information to. Who do they think they are, Cosford!!??

Where was this additional info as I couldn’t see it on insta or the website?

I think they are (or at least a couple are) retained for weapons trials in the USA
