I've bought tickets on the gate for the past two years' departures days and a few before that and it has always been relatively painless. I have a photo from last year that I took at 8am from P&V West which shows a very bare crowdline further into the 'stepladder enclosure' section.
Personally I wouldn't stress about actually being able to get a ticket on the day, providing they haven't changed anything with how they're sold. There was plenty of space through the day so I wouldn't have said it was anywhere near capacity. If you want to get a ticket on the gate and have a nice spot at the front, then yes, get there early so you're at the front of the queue, I arrived some time between 5:30 and 6 if that's any help.

A couple of us were travelling in one car on Saturday. This is no longer possible, so will one of us be able to park in the show without displaying a car pass?

Thanks

It may be worth emailing them and asking for another car park pass. I'd originally planned to use the shuttle bus on Sunday but plans have changed so last week I emailed and asked for a car pass instead and they sent me one within an hour or so. May be because they had more available on Sunday though.

I've never had to show a car pass. It's just so they can get a rough number of how many cars are coming. You'll be fine.

I forgot to get a car pass last year and got away with it. The stewards are just too busy to check every car.

Thanks for the responses. I have now heard back from RIAT and as long as you have a valid entry ticket you are ok to park.

They don’t issue a physical car pass, so no one checks to make sure you have one.

It’s so the organisers have an estimate on how many vehicles will be using the routes in.
