Royal International Air Tattoo Wishlist 2024

Post by johnwickenden » Wed Jul 19, 2023 7:54 am

Sorry, I know the duat hasn't even settled from this year's event but Gloucestershire Live have published an article which quotes next years show as being on 19-21 July with the theme being '50th anniversary of the F16'

Who is going to start the ball rolling with a wish list of Vipers?

Its gonna rain, its gonna rain till the levee breaks, a tidal wave of fear and pain washes us away, another fight into the night until nothing else remains, how do we find harbour from the Hurricane?

Noice. Unfortunately a few local Viper operators can be ruled out, the Dutch said this year would be the last and the Noggies have already gone. That's asuming none of the other nations end up donating there's eastwards.
Also 70th anniversary of the Jet Provost's first flight apparently.

Going down to 2 days next year. As much as I like the Friday, it's too much for me to do 3 days with the travel involved and rising prices etc.

Portugal and Poland ones for me on the wish list.

However I don’t think the theme will be followed that much, as the only F16s we will get will be European one, and maybe US ones.

Anyone know if any RNoAF 16’s are in AMARG by the way?

A pair of JASDF F.2's would be exotic

This post gets earlier every year, hopefully you've all got some other things to look forward to over the next 360 odd days. Ridiculous.

I would think that NATO 75 would be a great theme to gather all kind of aircraft ofball members at RIAT.

Is this the wish list or the general discussion thread?
Could someone amend the topic title when you make a decision please?

What about the Greek F-16s? There's also plenty still in service in the US, so maybe a few from across there.
Israeli ones too, but might be a bit political.

Columbia don’t operate the F-16, but a couple of Kfirs should make up for that.

Due to a combination of work commitments, ill health, then needing a new hip I finally made it back to RIAT (thanks to my son)
after 15 years, the last one 2008 which was cancelled. I had a fabulous day out, got soaked to the skin, could barely move for three days after!!
My wish list is to be able to do it all again next year whatever aircraft are there.
Cheers guys hope all your wishes come true mine did this year.

When I opened this thread it was to publicise the theme for next year and any reference to potential attendees was very much tongue in cheek and I hadn't titled it 'wishlist' -someone else appears to have done that !

As I don't wish to face the ire of other contributors...could the mods lock this thread as its gained more of a life than I intended

1st it's Ukraine not the Ukraine.

2nd what a dumb and stupid thing to say especially as Ukraine pilots are being killed, I remember someone saying something similar on here when the war 1st started about the SU-27 attending RIAT and what happened after they said it? Oh yeah the Ukrainian demo pilot was killed.

On another note is it not the 70th anniversary of the Hercules next year? I'm sure I heard that being said last week on the RIAT coverage I could be wrong though?
