Ah! I thought at PV west they were holding to cross over - I hadn't noticed they were waiting to back taxy. I thought there was a northern taxyway to which they could cross over to.

Just looked at an airfield diagram - so they back taxy from the west Bravo to the mid point Charlie and turn on to the northern taxyway which would cause delays and operational issues as they will need to wait for a convenient break in departure so my point a few posts up is rubbish! Sorry RIAT .

ASN reporting, in what can only be seen as a downside to RIAT, that AL Fursan MB339 442 suffered an engine failure over France and made an emergency landing at Nevers airport sustaining considerable damage.

Think ASN may have rather overplayed the incident.
The secretariat of the prefecture of Nièvre ensures that there were no injuries and that the landing went smoothly.

Indeed the considerable damage must be invisible to the naked eye

ASN's armchair crash investigators overplaying an incident, however? Surely not...

The substantial damage may well be the engine and not visible.

Please explain why an issue with an aircraft from a team that self-handles at RIAT would be a 'downside to RIAT'? I'm all ears on this one.

The third EAV-8, someone mentioned a callsign was allocated.. Testicles?
Callsign on the RIAT ATC-generated listing for the singleton was COBRA01, slot time 1210Z Weds PPREF SPN02, allocated spot tempo on Brown static after landing, location on the parking plan was Bay 47 next to the pair of Italian ones.

C/S for the flying pair was AME86XX(TBC) on the same source, arrival slot 1206Z Weds PPREF SPN01, allocated slots Brown flying.

With comments like yours when we provide info from the systems in use and it gets mocked by 'enthusiasts' who know better than the bookings, is it any wonder we don't put real info on here much?

As for my cojones (yes, that's the Spanish for them), I keep them in my shreds, not in posts on here. You'd be well advised to follow suit (though in your own shreds, obvs.)

No need to be so thor about it :P

No offense intended. It was aimed at the information being man plums, not the person posting it (which I don't recall being you). Either way, not the first time. Think Spicy 23 at 0825, or B-2 x 3 from a couple of years back...
Anyway, who said I had cojones, or that I was only an enthusiast? Very presumptuous of you ;)

I went thu/fri/sat. Thurs was very good, well worth the wait until 7 to see the F-4 arrive. Friday I gave up at 1 and returned to the hotel to watch Wimbledon, Thoroughly enjoyed the saturday show, in the C,P. by 6.45 and in the showground by 8.30, so not to bad.
Awesome dislays by the Belgian FI6 and Finnish F18 and another hilite was the German Demo. Best team was The Saudi Hawks, very polished, also enjoyed The UAE "smoke display". The static was excellent, especially liked being able to almost get in the bomb bay of the B52, amusing seeing people taking selfies eating a burger in the bomb bay of a B52. I always like to see what merchandise The Air Arms have to offer, I managed to add to my small collection of engraved beer glasses, The Madhatters and Fightin' Doves. I stopped at various vantage points to watch and photograph the always slick flying displays, I try not to spend my whole day looking through a camera lens.
I,ve been doing Greenham, Cottesmore and Fairford since 1973, missed one Greenham and Fairford due to one reason or another. It never dissapoints, occasionally the weather rears it's ugly head, we can't help that. Some are obviously slightly better than others and last year will take some beating. Always lots of noise and heavy metal. A very good RIAT 2023 and looking forward to 2024.
Don't forget when it was held at Boscombe Down :thumb:

It was me who posted about the c/s - 2238 12/Jul is the timestamp on the post. My gen on RIAT moves comes from the daily moves sheet my team work from to handle the movements and park them.

As for cojones, it's entirely possible in this flexible & diverse day & age. I'm currently identifying as a wholemeal breadloaf.

Maybe it was due and its a cancellation that wasn't admitted to.. Very few are privy to that information, the public certainly not being them!

I was tempted to announce on arrival at Fairford that I identified as a B-1B, and demand to be put in the flying display..

They were but, as they were organised by the same team, it’s a case of “all the right notes just not in the right order”.
If you don’t get that then YouTube Morcombe and Wise with Andre Previn.

Don’t forget the 1980 Newbury Air Festival, which was a rearrangement of Bristol, the show at Bournemouth where the Phantom navigator ejected and Scampton.

No, 92 was Air Tournament International, the 1990 show was the TVS Battle of Britain Airshow.

So what was going on with the static B-52, I mean I know they're old, but it seemed that this one could do with some TLC and paint stripper. I've never seen a nose radome that deteriorated aside from museums.

Time and $$$. They take up a lot of hangar space, so until they need checks, it's not going to be taken off the line for a touch up.
The last one to actually make it to RIAT was pretty banged up too.

I was taken aback at first, but then I guess sometimes they come off deployment a little beaten up and sand blasted. Was interesting to see. Did these two come over especially for the show? Perhaps this beaten up Buff was the best of the bunch which would be a sad state of affairs, but given the age of the aircraft probably not surprising.

Better to look a bit rough and be airworthy than polished and a death-trap.
