Hi there,
Just been bitten by the motorhome bug and off to Santa Pod this weekend but left it too late for Goodwood Revival the week after.
So I’m asking really early for RIAT 2023 as I would like to take a small motorhome and spend 3-4 days hopefully on a FRIAT ticket.
What would make a much more enjoyable stay with more creature comforts would be if I could connect to an electrical hookup which if available would probably be in high demand.
Is there a particular location that offers electrical hookup for a small motorhome and can anybody give me more details or point towards a resource that might help in my quest please?
Rather have a provided electrical hookup than bring my own generator for my own convenience and others around me!
Thanks & kind regards,

Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Can't help but if energy prices continue to rise, your hookup will cost more than a RIAT 4-day ticket!

I know and understand your conundrum. We had a second battery, often called a 'leisure' battery, fitted to our motorhome. It went under the passenger seat. We also fitted a solar panel to augment and keep the leisure battery topped up. The second battery could also be topped up from the main battery, automatically without you doing anything. A safety mechanism prevented the main battery from draining below 25% of charge - therefor there is no starting of engine concerns.
We would often 'wild camp' as it is known, going off-grid for three days at a time and never had power issues. Laptop, tablet, inside lights all happily going. Enquire about a second (leisure) battery from your dealer, it is a common fitting to many motorhomes.
Good luck and be adventurous!

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.
Although I can use gas for heating, hot water, shower, fridge/freezer etc. I would prefer to utilise electricity over gas especially when it comes down to boiling a kettle for example.
It also gives peace of mind I won't be dragging the leisure battery down to the point of no return.
Thanks & kind regards,

Ha! You could well be right but I don't mind paying as its just a one-off and worth it IMHO as everything in the motorhome is just effortless when hooked up.Nighthawke wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 10:00 pmCan't help but if energy prices continue to rise, your hookup will cost more than a RIAT 4-day ticket!

The motorhome already has a leisure battery and split charging system where the engine battery is kept segregated in good condition so you should always have enough current to start the engine even if there is not enough power in the leisure battery for creature comforts. Solar panels are fitted on the roof but IMHO they're only handy for topping off not providing a decent level of current for appliances such as microwave.Tally-ho wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 4:48 amI know and understand your conundrum. I’m in the same situation and now that there’s no official campsite for 2023 I’m looking for a motorhome friendly site. The electric hookup does give you some piece of mind and allow you to run higher power items without worrying about draining batteries.
Kempsford Camping are offering limited EHUs and a little further afield are Second Chance touring park and Rough Grounds Farm

Sorry, just seen this thread, but for what it's worth, this is what I do....
We take our caravan every year, done it for the last 15 or so years now I'd guess, to the caravan and motor home club rally. We go Wens to Monday, 1 day in the show, the rest just in the caravan field where the display aircraft are right above us when they either bank into the display line or bank out from the display line. The field is just behind the area where the U2 hangars are, where the display aircraft park. NO hook-up mind, just water and a waste skip. We only use the caravan battery, with a solar panel on the roof. Fridge, hot water and cooking is on gas. We have enough power for the shower and taps, phone charge , tv ect......just a case of being careful what and when we use...very do-able though, and a great place to watch the aircraft
