Agree with you. PC21s are bland. French air force have far more interesting stuff than that.

With Farnborough the week following RIAT that might bring a few more exotic visitors this year. Since the Indians were going to bring Tejas' to Cobra Warrior, that would suggest the planning had already been made, so just maybe......

Another passing thought about the financial side of this. A packet of 20 cigarettes cost (?) , a pint of beer (?), a ticket to a premier league football match costs (?)
I don't know any of the above as, due to personal choice, have never smoked, drink rarely and living close to Norwich City....enough said.
We all spend our disposable cash in different ways. Just enjoy the shows whilst you can since, as recent events have shown, it wouldn't take a lot to close the whole lot down.

I wonder what tactic they plan to demonstrate? Perhaps they'll do 30mins of touch and go's?airtyphoon wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 12:55 pmLooks like the French Air Force Mustang X-Ray Tactical Demo have self confirmed with 2 X PC-21 Trainers - a UK Debut
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
That's not what it means when they call it a tactical display. The routine is more akin to the old Raffin Mike or Voltige Victor profiles, albeit not as tight, with formation passes leading to a more dynamic element including breaks and opposition passes. By adding in the 'tactical' they're differentiating themselves from the other more aerobatic displays that you may expect from smaller trainer types in Europe, such as the Slovenian PC-9 solo.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
I can't believe the Rafale C is confirmed for the Cosford Airshow and not RIAT. Not sure if it's from the French Navy though. Its bit disappointing to see them being a pair of p21s for the flying display though.DeanW wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 4:14 pmThat's not what it means when they call it a tactical display. I think we are all waiting for the Polish Air force to enter talks

Yes it is disappointing not to see the Rafale and Couteau Delta's schedule was out today and RIAT was not on it either and the PDF had no RIAT on their schedule.Flightech wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 10:00 pmI can't believe the Rafale C is confirmed for the Cosford Airshow and not RIAT. But to be fair if the PC-21s are coming to RIAT I would prefer that as it would be a UK Debut and something never seen before unlike the Rafale, Couteau Delta and PDF who have all attended RIAT.
I believe the Rafale for Cosford is from the French Airforce.

We all expect the French too send displays to RIAT but what are the RAF sending to support French Airshows in return? Nothing.
A fast jet to Cosford and a UK debut to RIAT that fits into the Show Themes set by the organisers. Fair play to the French for their great support yet again to the UK Airshow scene.

I guess they can still be added though , Again the weekend of RIAT is blank for them so still a chance,
Great shame if they are not coming this year, Specially the M2000s , They really bring a different type of Display to the show,
That said, the show is still shaping up nicely, Great effort from the RIAT team,
Mark.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
While I would have loved some of the French jets, I am not going to complain about the PC21 demo. It's a new display for me that I haven't seen before and not only a RIAT debut, but a UK debut too.
Bastile day in France is the day before RIAT this year, so I assume the Fench display teams will mostly be doing domestic shows that weekend.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
Looking at the list so far, I'm guessing we are a little short of the flying displays compared to the previous years where we have had 30 plus.
I'm guessing at the best:
Turkish air/land force..... 1
Italian air force..... 2
Croatian air force.... 1
Us airforce..... 1 (tba). Maybe 1 more?
Czech airforce..... 2 (potential)
French airforce..... 1 (tba), maybe 1 more?
Maybe 1 fly past?
I doubt with the non European ones we will get any flying displays (apart from North America) so anything would be a bonus. I'm surprised that French and US navy isn't on there.
Anyone want to guess if Poland would be on the list this year?
I'm really curious if the Indians would bring their display team?
The Black Eagles, they're hasn't been any updates so far...
What do others think?
