Air Tattoo 50
Air Tattoo 50
Have started looking at my recently arrived copy.Only briefly looked at earliest years but interesting insight into developing restrictions and politics affecting organising an event like this

Third for the book ,absolutely superb read I got it for Christmas, read it twice already as others have already said so many found memories it inspired me to have a look back through old RIAT programs and remember just how lucky we all are ,RIAT 2002 was the first iat /RIAT for me when I saw my first B-2 Spirit of Florida flyby both days [?] and thinking how awesome and incredible the shape of the B-2 is,I do remember she had four 48FW F-15s as escort that weekend
Edit my notes say it was 92-0700”Spirit of Florida “ Sat and Sun was 89-0128 “Spirit of Nebraska “- I see I have a scribble next to the start of the serial for. Spirit of Nebraska so might need further clarification

I agree, its a great reminder of what used to be. Can remember attending the first show at North Weald.
One comment I would make is the lack of a dustcover to protect this valuble book. Unfortunately I suffer from greasy fingers and have to be careful how I handle the book !

My wife ordered one of these for me, for my birthday next week.
She ordered it 24th Jan, she chased it yesterday as it hadn't arrived, it's turned up today...
With a postage cost of £15.85 on the royal mail stamp!!

Re: Air Tattoo 50
Quick question, does include lists of attendees or is it more high level?
My biggest disappointment with the 25th Anniversary book was that it only mentioned 'highlight' visitors of each show.

Hi. No lists as such. It is more of a photographic compendium of all Air Tattoos. It has a lot of background info re organisation of the events and personal memories. It is a fascinating read and definitely worth buying and the price, as far as I am concerned, is a steal. If you are looking for detailed lists for each show, you may need to look elsewhere. If you have attended Air Tattoos, then this is a great souvenir of times past.

My wife pre-ordered it and it arrived in time for my Christmas. I thought it was fantastic with some great pictures. I first started going to the Air Tattoo back in the days of Greenham and the book has brought back some great memories.
