Church Fenton Display

Left York on the 16.33 to Kings X and as we got close to the former RAF base at Church Fenton, I noticed much activity on the surrounding roads. Then suddenly I saw the object of their interest a low flying Vulcan bomber with 'bomb-bay' open, banking around to display over the airfield. For one moment it felt as though it was going to fly alongside us....

It made my day and that's from someone, who as a child, saw countless Vulcans over my home town of Doncaster. My friends and I would cycle out to Finningley and lay on our backs in the grass, right up against the perimeter fence and feel that raw power as they passed over us! Sad that this beautiful aeroplane will be grounded very soon.
