AVRO Heritage have a tin triangle outside at Woodford and the aviation viewing place at Ringway is already becoming stupidly expensive as car parks go.

Part of the plan for this one is that it should remain taxiable and that couldn't really happen at Ringway?
Had never really considered Manchester Airport as a final resting place. My preference being Bruntingthorpe. But hay its not plane and I dont have to look after it. But if the money there for Doncaster then so be it.

As for not being able to fast taxi at Manchester, why not ? the Southern runway is closed during the late morning early afternoon most day. OK you need fire cover and permission to cross the active runway but great viewing from that side of the airport.

There is plenty room up north of the border, I am sure the Moravia heritage group would find a place for it at Kinloss so all you enthusiasts down south could come on holiday, there is a nice long runway redundant there

I've seen this "Southern Route" posted today on the Book of Faces - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... sp=sharing

But no sign of any "Northern Route" to match it.

Good luck for either route should they happen.

If possible it should be parked inside a hangar, wherever that may be. I know it is expensive, hangar space but it makes me sad to see airframes just outside, exposed to the elements.

By the 'way', the Bank of Scotland offers Visa cards to suitable residents on either side of the Border.

Parts of the southern route are very similar to those flown as transit routes for previous shows, perhaps they could have altered it slightly to cover areas not previously visited? Its a real shame that they've cut out most of East Anglia from the route too!

Personally I think they should have flown a north & south coastal sortie, flying around the entire coastline of the UK. What an achievement and memorable way to bow out that could have been, think of the many spectacular viewing locations there could be along the way too  .

We in East Anglia did get several locations on the first farewell tour. To be honest if the idiots who "parked" (abandoned) so stupidly and dangerously at Marham were to do it again then it would be far better if the Vulcan stayed away!

I'd heard that this was 17/18 October, so have they changed it?

Pencilled in for the 10th & 11th October. That's what VTTS are saying, although nothing has yet been set in stone. Although, as usual all this hinges on the funds being available to do this tour.

Those routes just smell of another tour after this one! - If the aim of this "farewell" tour was so the masses could see it one last time then that southern route is a joke!!

I believe they said that they wanted the most amount of people to see it as safely as possible so a run along the coast (South for me !) would have suited both perfectly. Lots of cliff top room, few parking issues, no crashes on roads as drivers try to get a glimpse ! Looks like the South West have really missed out.

Seems an odd route over the SE corner, mostly over open country rather than flying round the coast as suggested above, that way far more people would see it.

They certainly won't be, which I thought would be the purpose of a farewell tour?

I really cant understand why Suffolk & Norfolk have been cut off the route, especially considering the many ideal viewing locations in both counties. How can VTTS expect to get donations from those areas when they have clearly been excluded from this provisional southern route plan :( .
