Didn't realise that Duxford had got rid of their Victor yet.

And the begging bowl appears as well - at the very bottom of the page.

From VTTS:

"Here are the planned routes for XH558’s tour over the remaining static airframes of V-Force aircraft. All will of course be subject to weather and technical conditions on the day and routes may alter (or reverse), subject to local conditions at the time."
"We will bring you more accurate details nearer the weekend and will also publish expected timings at each location in minutes- past any appointed take-off time. This will give you flexibility to determine which will be the best viewing location for yourself and when to expect"

Because it has not got a V Bomber on the airfield, where as Duxford and Elvington do. I suspect they will no doubt have another grand farewell tour after the end of the flying season.... :ninja:

Definately would love to try and get to East Fortune. Always wanted to get a film of 2 Vulcans there with '558 and '597.......

As an affordable-housing enclave for arachnids, with somewhere between Bob Hope & No Hope of doing public revenue-earning live-runs at Doncaster, one can envisage a time soon when Staff overheads & Management costs are reduced to peanuts.(hopefully?) A 'dead' XH558 is no more appealing than any other grounded Vulcan & should be left outside like all the other examples that haven't received such charitable benefit. If those examples can survive on a diet of personal dedication, public events & British weather, why not?
If you consider the distance involved, why would anybody from, say Devon drive past other dead Vulcans to see 558 in Doncaster, even before you list closer 'live' examples?? The heritage aspect of this venture is flawed, certainly given the proposed location at Robin Hood. Probably on the day the new building opened, the airport would close & become a housing-estate with noise & traffic constraints. If VTTS pack-up & retire at the end of flying what are the Lottery Commission going to do about it?... seize their assets maybe :D

The whole concept of keeping 558 at Doncaster is flawed. The general public are only interested when she flies. An 'education facility' isn't really going to captivate the general public. The VTTST should swallow their pride and let 558 eke out her last at Brunty. But that's another story.

They should take the plans for the education facility down the road to Bruntingthorpe & build it there as a Cold War Education Centre!

Bruntingthorpe is where 558's new journey started & I cant think of a better location for 558's second retirement. All of Brunty's Cold War jets could then have a roof over their heads :pop: .

TankBuster
And there's plenty more where that came from!

You have it in one! A Vulcan that doesn't fly is about a interesting to the General Public & particularly youngsters as paint drying. Ask any bunch of school-kids if they would like to go & see an aeroplane which once represented all that is Great about Britain, or visit a Theme Park (respectful nod to recent events) & it will be the latter!
You can make the proposed visitor facility as interactive as you like, you will lose their attention in a heartbeat. The Gift-shop will be many more times attractive than the exhibits.
Don't compete with numerous separate organisations, join with Bruntingthorpe to develop a coherent 'living' facility away from the over-bearing Commercial/Security constraints that come with a currently active airport.
I guess somebody smarter than me should start a new thread..."Save our Vulcan from Them", or something more catchy...V2B ?

I’m the nominated contact at Newark Air Museum and all my communications only show the late afternoon time slot for Newark as detailed in here http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/V_Force_Tour_2015

The local newspaper contacted me this afternoon, having received the media info from XH558 and they were also only advised about the late afternoon time slot!

Will try to keep people advised. :S

Can't wait for the whole sorry saga to come to an end. The VTTS have yet again shown no interest in Scotland with only pencilling in a fly over of East Fortune, what about the rest of the country? As for a final flypast at later date, I'll believe it when I see it.

Are there any preserved Vulcan's/Victor's north of East Fortune??. The flying tour is as the title says, 'Salute to the V-Force' so why fly over somewhere there isn't a V-Bomber on display?

If you want to see ANY aeroplane flying, then the onus is on you to go to it and not it to you.

To a certain extent yes, but when the VTTS have had to relay on public donations to keep it flying then they should put in more of an effort instead of flying within 100 miles of it's base. Also if you want to fly an aircraft then the onus is on the owners to fund it and not having to put out the begging bowl every Summer.

Like Barton Aerodrome? (or has it grown significantly since being renamed "City Airport")
