Rubbish weather here in the Midlands, been raining non stop all morning, still raining as i type.
vis very poor, unless things change pretty big style in the next few hours, I would forget any flight from 558.

Shame for the people that have braved Cosford today.

Cosford would've loved some weather as good as that! :(

Think Finningely were a bit optimistic unless the weather drastically improves within the space of a few miles. It's been about 1nm visibility all day with a 200ft cloud base!

Hmm, it was supposed to be around mid-day. Think I'll give tomorrow's departure a miss then! Weather looks ghastly though so I guess it wouldn't be a surprise if it was postponed until Saturday.

possible birdstrike on take-off

Hope not - last thing they need is the cost of fixing something like that

It was great too see her display at Cottesmore

If it was a bird strike they did not take anything easy during the Display, lough, tight and just brilliant!

Most probaly the last time she will be seen over Cottesmore! :'(

What chance of it routing back over Newark Air Museum for tomorrow evening's Cockpit-Fest gathering?

After all XM594 was used for new-crew familiarisation the other week!! :ninja:

The flypast comment was my wishful thinking, although they did route over this morning en route to Kemble, perhaps we'll have to make do with the Lancaster - the new crew familiarisation took place the other week.

I have a hunch that the crew member who was 'familiarised' may be on-board this weekend - I need to check with the liaison person at the museum!

Sadly as a charity ourselves XH558 fees are out of our league!! :(

Assuming the landing is from the northern end, your best bet is to park in Finningley Village. You can go through the fence and stand on the mound which overlooks the landing threshold - not too close but near enough for a good view. Alternatively you can walk from there right round the perimeter fence and stand under the approach lights. The outer fence seems to be ignored by all the locals - looks like they use it as a footpath. Just try not to look too obvious in case the cops are driving past - knowing what miserable gits they are, they'd probably come and ask you to move!
