The V-Force Tour has only ever been advertised as visiting all the remaining V bombers (not a full UK tour), the posters are pretty clear with that one!

I want to see 558 on the tour, so I've chipped in my bit and donated towards the flight just like many others have. The begging bowl may be rattling again, but that is exactly how XH558's owners fund their operation... just like many other charities out there!!!

Well, I've got a UHF antenna off a Vulcan that I bought at an Aerojumble at Yeovilton many moons ago - do I get a flypast ?

The flying tour is as the title says, 'Salute to the V-Force' so why fly over somewhere there isn't a V-Bomber on display?

Like Barton Aerodrome? (or has it grown significantly since being renamed "City Airport")

Just looking at the weather forecasts for Sat/Sun & it looks like its going to be a cloudy weekend with showers floating around . I hope this doesn't cause too many problems for the tour?

Both sorties are planned to depart from Robin Hood, Doncaster at 1300 (1pm) local time.

Please note: The Salute to the V-Force sorties are long owing to the distances involved. XH558 will be taking off with a full fuel load, and will be very heavy at locations early in the sortie. What can be achieved at each location is limited by time, the weight of the aircraft, local air traffic control restrictions, and for non-airfield locations, the nature of the permission granted by the CAA. Consequently, please only expect flypasts at all locations.

I, albeit an ex 55 Squadron Victor man, will be on parade at Marham for my few minutes of absolute delight.

Scanner will be on 119.350, to hear her clear Norwich at 15.00 ish, and 124.150 as she approaches over Swaffham north.

I expect to be impressed, as by then she will be on a relatively light fuel load, won't have any annoying local air traffic control restrictions or non airfield dross.

I expect maybe two power circuits, followed perhaps by a 65% climb out and 120 degree roll.

Won't see it again will I ??

Does anyone know what the exact route would be?? I'm wondering if I'll be able to catch Vulcan when she leaves Hendon en route to Duxford if she flies over Hatfield.

We would stress that there is no guarantee of these away from the designated V-Force sites, as weather or ATC instructions may cause the crew to choose alternative routes.
Here is a quick list of the added possibilities that you may like to consider.

Saturday:
Scarborough – for Armed Forces Day celebrations.
Whitby – coastal route.
Lake Windermere – transit route from Carlisle to Manchester area.
Barton Aerodrome – turning point ahead of Manchester airspace.
Manchester Airport – potential fly through.
*(subject to operational clearance)

Sunday:
Newark – transit overhead.
Cottesmore – transit overhead.
Silverstone Race Circuit – transit overhead.
Leavesden – transit overhead enroute Hendon.
Metheringham Airfield – transit overhead.
Cleethorpes – Armed Forces Day celebrations.

Roy Chadwick was born in Farnworth and went to school in Urmston. Barton Aerodrome sits between the two.

RAF Honington, home to Valiants and Victors between 1956 and 1965. Could possibly turn there after Duxford heading for Southend.

From Grimsby to Cleethorpes tomorrow.
Just booked train ticket to avoid traffic.
Eleven minute journey time outbound, but only seven minutes on return. Cost £2.30, cheaper than the bus!
