Whilst visiting the area I called in here last month. New security lodge etc to get in now and view the preserved helicopters, TF-102 and EC-130. I was not aware of the new requirement for background checks etc but was fortunate to be let in unescorted. This may change very soon. On the airfield side two GCH-47 sit outside so this is both a recent (and an old) request as they have been here for some time .

One is unmarked bar US Army the other is 01 or 81- 01008 which does not relate to a Chinook serial. Anyone been fortunate enough to get a closer look?

Bob,

Unfortunately I can't add much to this at this point, other than to say that both US Demobbed and Planebase think that one of them is marked "06-001", ID unknown. If I turn up anything more I'll let you know.

Thanks. The one marked 01008 did have rotor heads but no rotors. The other had less components on it with what looked like a grey torque tube protruding from rear rotor pylon.
