Is this the kind of thing you are after?"A map of the UH flightline we had up in our shop before we renovated it in 1986". Submitted by Art Sevigny, SSgt, 77TFS, 1980 - 1987.

Hi Stu,
Thanks mate, I have that one already so the F-111 parking is sorted (kind of).
Just need to know where on the base the Ravens used.

Ahh, O.k.
Looking at this photo an EF-111 is being towed in to the fenced off area of HAS shelters marked on the other drawing as 1 - 9 ? : http://www.raf-upper-heyford.org/Aerial ... 1989_1.jpg
Probably not much help but thought it might have some use?

From that photo it suggests to me that they are going to do an EF-111A swap in the Victor Alert(VA) area. This replaced the old VA area East of the Control Tower (South side) which had open ended Alert barns.StuBie wrote:Ahh, O.k.

I had a nightime visit around some 42nd shelters with EF-111's inside them but it was difficult to judge exactly where they were - best guess at present would be in the 55th's area but I need to confirm that by playing some video's that I recorded on other occasions.
After the 42nd ops had ceased there were a number of visits by MO/CC EF-111's en-route to/from the Middle East and these also got sheltered on the North side possibly in the same ones that were vacated by the 42nd.

I was a fairly regular visitor to UH in those days (with parents living at Stratford-Upon-Avon and postings to Lyneham and North Luffenham).graham luxton wrote: From that photo it suggests to me that they are going to do an EF-111A swap in the Victor Alert(VA) area. The description above describes very well what I saw! In the early days they used the open barns for much of the time - making spotting relatively easy!
Hope this helps...

From info on a trip to the base last November I believe the 42 ECS used the shelters off of the loop in the North West corner of the base (surrounding the Engine Test Rig building) when viewed on Google Earth. The 42 ECS Squadron Building is the dark grey roofed building with the car park to the east just off of the perimeter track - the shape of this differs to the usual 'H' Shape squadron building (the 77TFS abit further to the East again) due to it being built much more recently
Hope this helps some
