I have an interest in this airfield and live right next to it. Now used for a skydiving school on a few days per week.
It was used during WW11 as bomber crew training and also glider pilot training.
Does anyone out there have any photos of the airfield when it was in operation ?

Have a look for the book "Shropshire Airfields" by Toby Neal, some good and interesting information in there, you might be surprised just how many airfields there were in the area.

Thank you Ratrace, yes, I have that book. There were indeed numerous airfields in the area but generally not covered in as much detail as those in other parts of the country.
I do have a basic map of the airfield from WW11 era but obtaining more detail has proved to be difficult.
