Hi all. just been looking at this website, about the history of Lincolnshires RAF airfields. As we all know Lincolnshire had over one hundred airfields during the war years, but this website gives a great insight into location of airfields, squadron history, and other facts. It also takes into account the naval connections and radar sites, plus seaplane history on the humber, in world war one. Here is the link to this fascinating site. http://www.raf-lincolnshire.info/index.htm
One fact I found out, is that when in 1925, the grimsby bus depot was built, a hangar from North killingholme was taken down and used to build the Grimsy bus depot. This hangar was from the US Naval air station based at North killingholme, on the banks of the Humber.
