Hi all
I've been doing some sorting out of old logs and noticed i had some Jag sightings at Coltishall but only wrote down the codes.
The date was 30th July 1985 (a lifetime ago I know) and the codes were
EB, EC, ED, EM, EP, ER, EU
GP, GR, GS

if I remember correctly E- codes were used by 6 Sqn and G- by 54 Sqn

Any help gratefully received.

Hi Jetnoise
I've been looking through my old logs and the nearest dates i've got at Coltishall is 5th & 8th Aug 1985
The only 2 Jags that i saw on those days with the codes you're after were..
XZ392/GR and XX146/GS
Im not sure if 6 sqn were away but i never seen any on those 2 days

You are correct in assuming E codes were 6 sqn and G codes were 54 sqn 41 sqn used a single letter code..

Hope this helps
Martyn

EM - XZ396 18-Feb, 1-Jul, 12-Jul, 14-Oct

ER - XX829 18-Feb, 3-Dec
EU - XX141 20-Feb

Hope that helps (well, on the majority anyway!)

Most of the Jaguar fleet at Coltishall retained the same tail-codes throughout their career, I know that some did change between airframes but the majority didn't.

41 Sqn did use two letter codes on their Jaguars but much later in their service at Colt, late 90s in to the 2000s, the codes starting with F.

Martyn, XZ932 (its a Gazelle HT.3) is incorrect it should be XZ392, I think you've transposed some of the numbers.

Thanks Bilvo
Having trouble with my fat fingers again
Unfortunately didn't do much spotting in 90's so never knew 41sqn had F codes

Cheers
