The Battle of Britain flypast in1990 was excellent, with over 170 aircraft taking part. It was the largest flypast since the Queen's coronation in 1953.

Hi.

Did you get the info' you requested? If not I can have a look for the old mags with the info' in. I'm sure I have the official souvenir book issued by the RAFBF for the 1990 event with positions of aircraft in the formations and, I think, crew names. Thanks for the prompt to find it as it may be a "collectable" item!

There were a few other aircraft in the flypast that aren't listed above, notably the Battle of Britain Flight and Red Arrows.

Leading the fly past were:-
Spitfires IA P7350(UO-T)
Spitfires PM631(N), PS853(C) PS915
Spitfire V AB910(BP-O)
Hurricane IIC LF363(GN-A) PZ865(RF-U)

Other aircraft were:-
VC10 K2 ZA142(C)
VC10 K3 ZA149(H)
Hercules C1P XV215, XV188, XV291 & XV205
HS125 CC2XX507 & XX508
Nimrod MR2P XV232
Sea Harrier FRS1 ZD580(714) & XZ492(712)

Ending the flypast, a Spitfire & hurricane making a second appearance, were
Hawk T1A XX252, XX294, XX306,XX227, XX260, XX237, XX307, XX264, & XX253
followed by
Lancaster B1 PA474(PM-M)

OK, Here goes,
Falklands anniversary, as seen by myself from Westminster bridge, London.
The formations were split into rotary then fixed-wing, and, although i didn't write them down, my notes say that the squadrons wre representing the ones that took part in the Falklands.

Sea King HAS5s XV648 XV670 ZA166
Sea Kin HC4s ZA314 ZF121 ZF123 + 1 unknown
Sea King HAR 3 XZ587
Lynx XZ232 XZ246 XZ248 XZ721 XZ693
Merlin HM.1 ZH831 ZH837 ZH848
Lynx AH7 XZ178 XZ205 ZD277 with 2 Unknown AH-64Ds
Chinook HC2 1 Uknown

Dominie T1s XS709 XS711 XS727 XS728 XS730
C130s ZH880 XV202
Typhoons ZJ918 ZJ919 ZJ926 ZJ929 ZJ936
VC-10 C1K XV105 with Hawks XX170 XX171 XX247 XX248
Nimrod MR2 XV254
Red Arrows 9 unknown

Plus, just for completness HMS Ark Royal was moored in the River Thames at Grenwich, onboard was Merlin ZH850 and Wasp XT787
Hope this helps
Dave

Dave,
Many thanks for this.
I took some photos as they went ott Fairlop. Photos were so bad that couldn't make out markings let alone serials.
Not a huge amount on the net either about this flypast.

As for the unknown Chinook, they were trying to get the most famous of them all (and Falklands survivor) 'BN' to take part. For the life of me I can't remember if she took part.
Thanks again

No problems bp, with the Chinook, i know that the BN task of getting her to London failed because i remember being dissapointed about that, i think it may have been in Afghan or Iraq at the time.

Just re-visited this thread as I was lucky enough to receive the "Battle Of Britain Flypast Memorial" book for the 1990 flypast over London. Just checked that list of serials of aircraft and there are several missing from all the fighter formations. All were box 16 formations but that list has several missing; I do have the whole list if anybody wants it?.

Regards ... Ian.

Ian, can you please send to me a full list of the aircraft involved in the 1990 Flypast over Westminster. I was fortunate to be working in one of the many Whitehall buildings that day and managed to get access the roof to view the flypast.

Just trying to tie up dates seen etc and am struggling for a complete list for the 1990 flypast - as noted Scramble's list is missing a number of aircraft. Its a long time since Ian offered the full list but Ian if you are still on here would it be possible to have a copy please?

Many thanks

Anyone know the formation call signs of the BOB 1990 Flypast, unable to find any information! Would be much appreciated, I was in The Mall at the time and saw the flypast very impressive!
