On 22nd July 1987 I was at RAF Waddington. There I saw 8 Nimrod AEW3’s which were stored. I only could read 7 of them.
These 7 were: XV262, XZ280, XZ281, XZ282, XZ293, XZ285 and XZ287. Anyone for the 8th Nimrod AEW3?
Thanks!
Robert

From various reports in 'BAR' for 1987, the missing one for that time in July was XV259. PS: In your list, 'XZ293' should be 'XZ283'.

Mustang, I was looking at these as well and I couldn't work out if XV261 turned up from Woodford as expected during May (BAR/BARG May 87) ?
If XV261 had arrived from Woodford, then there would be 9 present but no idea on what was hangared
SEAR wasn't any help either

Hi JAWS,
The thing that swung it for me was the Abingdon report (JY478), which states that XV261 was due to be delivered thereto on 14/7, which was eight days before robert136's 22/7 visit to Waddington. So that eliminated XV261 (subsequntly logged at Abingdon's 'BoB At Home Day' on 12/9) from my list of candidates, which left XV259 as the unidentified a/c seen but not logged on 22/7. As ever, happy to be proved wrong!
All the best,
M

Great, I couldn't find confirmation of where and when 261 went, thanks.
