CH46 North island 22 March 1992

Post by brumbee » Mon Mar 01, 2021 2:23 pm

Hi,
On a visit to San Diego on the above date I managed to read some Sea Knights off that were on north island . Some the last 4 and also the codes and a couple must have been full read offs as no code noted. I do have a couple of queries though. This is how my original log looked:

152491 ( I did have code 76 later which should have been the code for this)
151937/01
152539
153314/52
151933/70
0954/71
2498/60
152533/74 ?
1902/63 ?
1918/75 ?
The first 7 seem to tie up to HC-11 or HC-3 machines but as for the last , 152533 was written off in 1968 , although in the TAHS Military Aircraft serials of north America for 1991 it does have this listed as current with correct code!
Did anybody else visit around this time and log the codes for the last 3 and have tie ups?

Cheers

Brumbee

Brumbee

I have the following for North Island in October '92 (unless noted):

152491 VR76 HC-11
151937 SA01 HC-3
152539 VR51 HC-11 Oct '90
153314 VR52 HC-11
151933 VR70 HC-11 Oct '90, see as VR71 in Oct '92
0954 VR71 HC-11 Oct '90, see as VR60 in Oct '92
2498 VR67 HC-11 Oct '93
152533 try 152553 VR74 HC-11
1902 VR65 HC-11
1918 Never seen a VR75 but that by no means one has never existed. 151918 seen as HW02 HC-3 in Oct '93

Hope this helps a little

Thanks Nighthawk for taking the time to check the log.

You are right about 152533 being 152553 /74. The Aforementioned Military serials of North America has them both as HC-11 VR-74 , but obviously 152533 is an error as definitely written off in 1968.
It also has 151902 as being Dumped at Cherry point in 4.89 and 151918 /VR72 being W/O 01.09.85, again, errors. 151902 was written off in 1997 and 151918 saw out its service and was retired to AMARC.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for that, it confirmed all my read offs . I think 152553 must have had a dodgy serial paint job as it seems to catch a few out!
