Devon at Biggin Hill 2007

Post by mudhen15 » Mon Aug 31, 2020 4:15 pm

Sorting out my logs, and have a Devon listed as G-OPLC and noted VP962. The serial VP962 was a Vampire. As I don't have a photo, I'm not sure if the Devon was marked in spurious markings and also i'm not sure if I noted VP962 on the day or later. Could anyone help confirm if the Devon was marked as VP962.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just rechecked what I entered on scramble and had put in VP692. Must make a mental note to check what i'm typing next time.

VP692 was part of a cancelled batch of Vampires so only ever an allocation.

No worries - oh and credit to the 1987 copy of British Military AIrcraft 1878-1987 produced by Midland Counties Publications and compliled by Bruce Robertson. It is a very useful source for serial allocations for that period.

I might be misremembering but were they the Devons that were covered in graffiti by some naughty school kids who got on to the airfield?
