U2 Wethersfield England

Post by U21975 » Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:32 pm

I am new to this site, i was extremely happy to find it last week, i have searched for around 30 years for information on U-2s stationed at wethersfield in 1975, i was in that squadron back then, had a lot of news clippings and articles about us being there, unfortunately ended up in a divorce and x wife destroyed all of my memorabilia from military past. Not real sure how to use this site yet, so bear with me, thanks

Hi U21975 (that sounds like an easyJet flight number - Manchester to Pafos!), the staff have kindly moved your post into the correct section of the forum and hopefully someone will reply soon. :)

Chris Pocock's book "50 Years of the U-2 - The Complete Illustrated History of Lockheed's Legendary Dragon Lady" has a lot of detail on the Wethersfield deployments, a pricey book if bought new but well worth it.

Also take a look at:

ChrisK. How did you see 56-6700 as it crashed in Germany on 29-05-75! 56-6707 was brought over as a replacement.

Photogenius -.Good point, checked old log and found correct dates
56-6700 13-5-75
56-6680 13-5-75
56-6714 4-6-75
56-6701 4-6-75
56-6707 4-6-75
56 6716 5-6-75
Hope this is now correct,as my logs for this period are a mess and difficult to read
Cheers Chrisk
