Excaliburs too? It'll be down to those who still have the BARG books.

Several of the Cottesmore events are listed under the Scramble show reports section.

Nine AMI Tornados arrived 11/10/89 on their way to Nellis for a 'Red Flag'. All the aircraft were devoid of unit markings and each had a two-digit code on the fin comprising the last two digits of the serial:

MM7037/37, MM7066/66, MM7071/71, MM7072/72, MM7074/74, MM7076/76, MM7080/80, MM7086/86 and MM7088/88.

All nine departed Cottesmore on 12/10 accompanied by C-30H MM61990/46-04. Three of the Tornados were 'air spares' and returned to Cottesmore later that day. The six that flew on to Nellis returned to Cottesmore on 28/11 accompanied by the same C-130H, then departed the next day for Italy.

I'm happy to check my copies of 'BAR' re. exercises and Cottesmore Families Days, but could you be more specific as to which ones and in what years?

Hi Ian,

Do your BAR's go back to 1971-1973?

Kind regards,
Brian

Nothing in BAR for that date except a WGAF RF-4E , Transalls noted on 1/10 , 7/10 and 23/10 .

You need the exact date as it was not necessarily the same aircraft, or quantities, on each day of Mallet Blow.

Hi all,
In sorting out logs from this era, I remember blasting up the A1 before work for the aforementioned AMI Tornados at Cottesmore. I cannot locate my original paperwork but I do have a note that says only 8 birds were found in early mirk on the 12th. Sloppy logging and impatience on my part or can anyone confirm that was one hangared at all? Long shot I know ....

.... and of course Murphy's law confirmed again, as I have never seen any one of them since.
