Serial Queries April 1984

Post by EA6B Prowler » Thu Nov 22, 2018 3:08 pm

The following pair of serials I require assistance with please

(a)
Frankfurt EDDF/FRA) April 21st, 1984
I have a US Army UH-1 logged as 16560 - looking to confirm the fiscal year of 66, rather than 68 & the operating unit.

(b)
Ramstein (ETAR/RMS) April 21st, 1984
I have a serial of 20974 F-16 - no tail code.
Now, 20974 was a Fokker built F-16A which was at the time, April 1984, with the 363rdTFW at Shaw AFB, Therefore I suspect a miss pole, so before I consign it to the trash, anyone able to sort this out.

MTIA for any reply

16560 would be 66- fiscal, almost certainly 22 AvnDet from Pirmasens.

No idea on the F-16 though - perhaps 80-0574 from Hahn?

Cheers, ZF.

Perhaps, or perhaps not, the F-16 could be 82-0914 from 401TFW Torrejon (was also at IAT 1985).

ZF & rh226 (Bob)

Many thanks for the replies

The FY for the UH-1 confirms my suspicion on that and thanks for the operating unit.

The two F-16 serials gives me something to work on, many thanks.

The F-16 query is homing in on 00574 from Hahn

Hahn was closed for runway work and the F-16 fleet was dispersed around the bases, one of them being Ramstein where 00574/HR F-16A 315thTFS/50thTFW was sent. The TJ F-16A 20914 was reported at it's home base during April so I'm going to discount that.

Many thanks

EA6B,

Glad it gave you a possibility - even if you were able to subsequently rule it out. After all, it was probably the most obvious for a mis-record/mis-pole.

Looks as if you will probably settle on the Hahn one, so good thing you asked the question. :thumb:
