2nd Lancaster flying in Europe 1980s???

Post by Rubberneck » Fri Aug 08, 2014 2:16 pm

Hi

one of the guys I work with keeps going on about a second Lancaster flying around in Europe in the 1980s - possibly heading from Europe to USA.

Can anybody shed any light on this? Is it true? If so what was its serial.

Or was it possibly another airworthy B17 which I think it was?

Maybe KB976/G-BCOH, but not sure how much flying it did after flying into the UK on 11th June 1975.

G-BCOH flew to the UK - possibly circa 1976?

sorted

It was a B-17 not a Lancaster

44-83868/N5237V 25th October 1983 I think in to Brize before being transported to RAF Hendon

BCOH Lancaster was owned by Strathallan, 1974-1991 then to Aces High and transferred to USA later.

Believe it flew into Scotland from Canada on delivery to Strathallan

Interestingly, she swapped engines with Duxford's B-17 'Sally B'!
