Mildenhall Airshow 1986
Mildenhall Airshow 1986
Two questions -
Which SR-71A flew on Saturday 24/05/86 either 17960 or 17980
Also on arrivals day Friday 23/05/86 I have photos of Buccaneer S2B XW530 HF 12 sqn and XW533 AS 208 sqn
although Scramble only list XW530 at the show ?
Thanks for any help

Re: Mildenhall Airshow 1986
According to the 'BAR' reprt for the show, 17960 was the display SR-71A. Confirmed that XW530 was in attendance, though 'BAR' has it coded as 'F'; but there is no mention at all of XW533, either in connection with the show or as a visitor in late May.

Thankyou very much for the reply. I had my doubts about XW533 as being taken on the same day as XW530 but thats what the ticket said.
Re: Mildenhall Airshow 1986
My own log notes show XW530 at Mildenhall on Sat 24.5.1986 as code "HF"
A photo on Flickr shows it that same day

Just to clarify: yes, 17960 was the display aircraft, i.e. it participated in the Flying display; and 17980 was in what 'BAR', in itsKnife 04 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 3:09 pmShot of 17980 in staticmustang5861 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 1:40 pmAccording to the 'BAR' reprt for the show, 17960 was the display SR-71A.
SR-71 - 17980 Det 4, 9th SRW Mildenhall by Darren Currie, on Flickr
listings for airshows, refers to as the Static participants. Apologies for any confusion caused. Good photo!

No confusion at all Mustang - just trying to clarify your point with photographic evidence

Thanks for the comment

A link would be more useful:
https://www.scramble.nl/database/show-r ... nhall-1986
I do have a Word document from the 23rd if it would help more. Don't have time at the moment to reformat it to reproduce here.
