F-117s RIAT 2001 RAF COTTESMORE

Post by MarkL » Sat Apr 25, 2020 9:54 pm

Hi All,

Trying to sort out some confusion on my part concerning the two F-117s at RIAT in 2001.

I attended on the Saturday 28th.

Could anyone tell me which aircraft flew on this day please.

The two present were 84-0812/HO and 86-0821/HO.

I logged '812 and recall it being brought over to the static in the morning. What I don't recall is if it went back over to display later on that day, or they flew '821 which I didn't log and didn't even appear on the Checklist. My feeling is that at the time I thought there was only one present at the show so didn't check the ID on the display aircraft as I assumed it was the same one.

Keep safe everyone !

Regards,

Mark.

The extensive 'Scramble' report for the two days notes 84-0812 as being in the Static and 86-0821 as Flying Only.

Guys thank you. I had seen the Scramble report mustang, but couldn't figure how I would not have seen the display aircraft launch but the explanation from Wolf does seem to add up and trigger some kind of recollection.

Thank you both for taking the time to answer.

Regards,

Mark.
