Cranfield 1986 & 1987

Post by K35R » Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:06 am

I have a couple of gaps in the logbook from a visit to the PFA Rally at Cranfield back in 1986 and 1987...

First off, 5th July 1986...
Buccaneer - No other info noted, no markings noted, nothing..!
Harvard marked 1513

5th July 1987...
DH Venom - covered, may have been in a hangar
DH Venom - I noted marks '317' but have a question mark on it
I also noted D-EDRS which is a Dornier Do.27, was it there that weekend?

Any help tying up these would be much appreciated...

Cheers,
Andrew

I acquired a Buccaneer nose section from the College of Aeronautics around then for Leighton Buzzard ATC. It was XN979.

Bucc was a nose section and indeed XN979. Harvard 1513 I only have as wings ex Portuguese AF.

I visited 4th July 1987 and have D-EDAS PA-24.
4 Venoms noted:
G-BLKA (WR410)
G-VENI (J-1523)
G-VIDI (J-1601)
G-VNOM (J-1632)

No note of 317 though so may not help much if at all.

Hope something of use to you.

From my files:
1513-N40814 then to G-CCOY

Can't attest to how much of it you saw on the day though
Cheers

Thanks for all the replies guys! Looks like not much changed with the Venoms between 86 & 87 as I had noted the same 4 Venoms on both visits.
