New Girl!

Post by Gracemissmetalgear » Tue Jan 07, 2014 9:58 pm

Hello everybody!

My name's Grace, I'm almost 21 years young, and I'm addicted to aircraft.. :P

I've been hanging around the forum as a guest for a few weeks now and I thought it's about time I joined up! I've loved aircraft since I was about two years old, carried a little yellow helicopter everywhere with me as a child. Aircraft isn't my only love though, I also share an interest in trains, motorbikes, cars, trucks, ships, and computers/video games.. I am a girl I swear!

I've been studying Aeronautical Engineering for the last five years of my educational life. Most of the time I'm up to my eyeballs in theory work, but occasionally I get to climb all over the two Jet Provosts and ex-military Gazelle we have to play with! Recently I've actually been asked to strip down one of the JP's Viper engines to see if we can clean it up and use it as a display engine.

I'm a regular at Waddington Air Show so a few of you may have unknowingly seen me around, I'm tiny, but I stand out! :P I should probably wrap this up so I look forward to seeing the activity on the forum as the year progresses, particularly the photos, from what I've seen so far they're stunning! Thanks for listening to my rambling!

Ah, a fellow Aero Eng student! I feel your pain....

Welcome to FC though, it's a pretty good reprieve from work (which is what I should be doing now, instead of procrastinating).

That's good to hear, I think I need a place like this! I've got a load of assignments that are driving me nuts at the moment, I too should really be doing work but it's giving me a headache so I think I'll stop for tonight! :P

Thank you for the warm welcomes :D

Thank you! Can't stop diving into all the photos and modelling stuff, I just wish I had some of the equipment some of you have, the pictures are gorgeous! I've only got a pretty basic camera myself so my pictures are of pretty average quality. :( Same with the models, they all look so good, mine don't look anywhere near! Need some more practice! :P

Don't worry too much! I had a basic camera for all my current aircraft shots on here and they're not too bad, feel free to take a look.

Oh hang on, Welcome to the forum! :P

I try to keep telling myself that :P I've never really had any help or advice with my modelling since none of my friends make them, just sort of struggled on my own with it, now something's finally filled that void! There's so much I could learn from FC! :D

Welcome to the forum Gracie, great signature too!

If you need any advice on modelling, may I suggest talking to another member on here, TomTwin? He's a contributing editor to Scale Aircraft Modelling (SAM) magazine, and has recently had an article published. If you have any questions regarding modelling, he is one of the best people to ask. :)

Enjoy browsing, I look forward to seeing some of your photos. Don't worry about your camera quality, when I joined I had a Fujifilm S2960...

Jack.

Thanks guys :) And thanks Jack, I'll keep that in mind when I start modelling again! I've got plenty of snaps that I've taken at air shows and museums over the years, I might pop a few on here when I get a chance to dig through them, there's some I'm quite proud of. I don't want to get too excited and start bombarding the forum with all my posts at once, I do tend to talk a lot when I'm new! :D
