Not sure if I'm able to ask this on here, out of curiosity which editing software do you all use for your aviation photographs, I use Lightroom and occasionally Photoshop, just wondering if there's a cheaper option out there you use, or do you mostly use them.
Regards
Darren

Hi Darren

I can't help really with your question as I'm not in to photography but a lot on here use flickr... not sure if you can edit on that.

But... If you repost your request in the photography section of the forum I'm sure more members will see your request.

Hope this helps.

I use Affinity Photo which charges a one off fee (currently £47.99) as opposed to a monthly subscription. Affinity Photo has lots of tutorials on line. I also use Topaz Sharpen AI ($79.99) as an add-on to sharpen photos and scanned slides. Both Affinity and Topaz run sales so you might find them cheaper.....

This is a 37 year old Kodak slide I processed in Affinity this morning and then sharpened with Topaz:

I used to use Affinity Photo - now use Adobe Lightroom on an Educational License. Affinity is really good once you get the hang of it and certainly was no slouch, but Lightroom is well worth the money in my opinion. Once I leave College I reckon I'll subscribe to it.

I also use photoshop. It only takes a couple of YouTube videos to learn the basic things that I need.

A bit late to this party, but it might help those who, like me, have just seen this post. I use Capture 1 v22. Prices vary depending on whether you purchase a subscription, or you wish to purchase a perpetual licence. Its comparable to LR, and is well supported by Capture 1 themselves who created YouTube content on how to use the application. There is also a photographer named Paul Reiffer, who regularly processes submitted images on 1hr length YouTube videos.

I tried a lot of software, but I think Lightroom Classic is the best software you can have.

I jump between lightroom (love it for cataloging) and Luminar AI. Both are pretty good but luminar seems to be a bit fussy at times with your operating system. Luminar AI is cheaper but if you shop around there are download once versions of lightroom which dont have a monthly cost.

Tried most of the packages and settled on Affinity, it is hard to beat with the one off payment and when I changed computers another copy for free. Its really good at editing too.
