Evening, been a member since B52's were at Fairford last year but never posted before.
Thinking of buying a radio scanner to give a decent warning of any incoming in the next few weeks. Does anybody have thoughts about how far away I could hear incoming planes and get to the airfield about 15 mins from home?

Perceived wisdom rates the Uniden UBC125XLT as a great choice of scanner

As for the range of signals, there are many peeps on here who will be able to advise you

You can keep an eye on the Heads Up and Exercise Notam sections which will give you a good idea and there is also the Bomber Deployment section for Fairford which is very good.
