French AF Transall serials

Hiya,
I am in the process of putting my historic logs onto an online site but I am slightly confused as trying to add French AF C-160 transalls as my logs show serials like F100 however all books now seem to be showing R100. Was this a simple flip of the Prefix letter or something more sinister? Cheers

Transall C-160F were converted to Transall C-160R, given new construction numbers and thus new serial numbers.
