Hi one and all, just thought I'd introduce myself to the board. My name's Des and I absolutely love all things military aircraft. My favourite aircraft are the Spitfire,Phantom,Lightning,F16,F15,Mi24 and too many more to mention. My love of aircraft started because we lived on the outskirts of RAF Kenley in the early eighties, and I grew up wishing I was a Spitfire pilot :)Still go there to take my boys for a walk round the airfield. I guess my favourite aircraft moment was when I was an air cadet and we visited RAF Binbrook for a week in April 87,saw copious amounts of Lightnings and on the last night we got to watch at least 2 Lightnings doing an after dark take off. Those blue streaks of flame will live with me forever  Thanks for reading and sorry I waffled on a bit.Loving this new found forum. Keep up the good work guys.

Hi, I have finally joined you guys after many a month being a guest. I really admire your dedication to this interest though some would say obsession. My interest is mainly military having served in the RAF 72-95 and currently in the MOD, my last posting in the RAF was providing fire cover for mainly Hercs' operating at austere strips in and around Salisbury Plain though we did travel widely in the U.K and abroad. Current work gets me up close to some interesting USAF a/c and a few years ago the Shuttle on the launch pad at Kennedy, but I digress, I might stop for a chat on my drive pass the end of 27 at Fairford to introduce myself when you guys are next there in May?

Well I thought Id best give some info on myself, even though I've been on here a while.

Hi Im Niall, Im 20 (for another month anyway), usually seen at Lossie/Kinloss and on the odd ocassion Leuchars. Rarely go anywhere else to be honest, mainly due to work and various other reasons.
I've met some great people (especially Mike) through not only this forum but others that Im apart of. Even just turning up at either Kinloss, Lossie or Leuchars and chatting to folk. It's amazing how chatty some folk are if you just ask a simple question like, "Much activity today?"
Anyway I'll not bore you any longer  :pop:
Cheers Niall

Hello all,

My name is Howard and I live in South-West Nova Scotia, Canada.
All I can say is WOW! Talk about information overload. This site touches on so many of my hobbies I don't know where to start!

I joined the group hoping to get a 'heads-up' on overseas deployments from the UK but it's looking like there is so much more!
I am located at the CP of AR-20(SW) and commonly have refuelings occurring...just can't see them most of the times (due to our overcast weather).
That's as close to 'real' military action I get around here as the closest Military Airbase is several hundred miles to the North. I don't know how most of you can work living near such 'target-rich' environments. Primary industry here is (lobster) fishing and the dot-com business I now work for.
I have been involved in many things over the years from managing retail electronics stores, flying as a volunteer with the Military (SAR) as a spotter and working in the tower at our Unicom airfield. I've planned vacations around airshows and at one time subscribed to every aviation publication I could. I don't do that much anymore (down to 1 show a year now).

The other major hobby I indulge in is photography. Digital SLRs are what I've been waiting for all my life..now if I can find some interesting aircraft to photograph, that would be great. The photos on this site are jaw-dropping to say the least!
I recently updated my scanner to a PSR-800. I had no idea how much had changed in the past 5 years! Having gone from 4 analog scanners to this one, I'm very impressed with the technology. It plays right into what I'm used to...a techno gadget that's computer controlled!

So...I hope I can contribute in some small way to this forum. Thank you for the opportunity.
Cheers!
Sharer 'Fh' CYQI
