Newbie - here for first DLSR advice

Post by planehazza » Mon Jul 15, 2024 1:34 pm

Name's Harry, and I'm not an avid photographer, but I'd like to get a entry level DLSR and lens for airshows.

I've hijacked an existing newbie thread to avoid spamming the section with the same *Tell me what to buy please" kind of gig.

Hi Harry.
You would be better off putting this in the photography Q & A section. You may well find that's where a moderator will move it to anyway. Best advice I can give is for you to spend some time going through that section, your query is I'm sure addressed there somewhere. Also have a look at the current military photo section, if you find picture you like then in nearly all cases you will be able to click the link and go to the takers Flickr site. The details of equipment used will usually be under the picture. Get to Coningsby or Lakenheath or where ever is convenient for you and talk with folks taking pictures, in my experience they'll be only to happy to share their thoughts with you.
Hope this helps and good luck.

I already did :) I hijacked an existing thread from someone in the same boat, and now I have a D7200 and 70-300 nikkor lens from MPB arriving tomorrow :)

Hi,

I'm Jack, and while I'm not a photography enthusiast, I'm keen on picking up an entry-level DSLR and lens for capturing airshows. I've jumped into an ongoing newbie discussion to keep the forum tidy and avoid repetitive "help me choose" posts.

Jack ;)
