Good morning all,
As you can see I am new to this site, looking forward to chatting to you all, and sharing my pictures, spent 2 great weeks at Mildenhall and Lakenheath last year with my disabled son and wife, we all enjoyed it.

Evening,

Been spotting for over 46 years now. Seen the downturn in military aviation and so many base closures, but the good memories stay with you. Like watching live ammo firing by F16s at Wainfleet, or an SR71 taking off from Mildenhall.

Regards

Hi Deaks

Welcome to Fighter Control.

For me it's 40 years since first putting pen to note pad and like you say some great memories along the way.

For me to the great SR 71 and the day at Donna Nook when 4 x A10s joined the range and shot the place up... amazing sound.

Also some of the great exercises of the day Mallet Blow... Elder Forest.. Elder Joust.

Enjoy the forum.

Oh yes, the sight and sound of a takeoff by an SR71 at MH; the same for the F111F’s at LN; multi-ship takeoffs by EE Lightning’s at Coltishall :Wow:

Hello all!!

I'm a long time lurker..... who has finally decided to make an account on here.

I got into aviation photography more seriously in 2011 when I found out about the Mach Loop. I pretty much lived up those hillsides back then! With the Mach Loop now being a shadow of it's former self I find myself visiting more and more airbases to get my aviation fix. I'm hoping to get to Lakenheath this month, it's a bit of a drive from where I'm based in Shropshire. As well as photography I have taken up videography which I am enjoying! It's certainly not as forgiving as photography though!

I'm looking forward to having a good look through all the fantastic photos on here and I am also looking forward to sharing some of my own shots too.

Cheers, Simon.

Many thanks Paddyboy!

Miss Demeanour was one of my most memorable catches in the Mach Loop. I know it was a bit of a "marmite" paint scheme.... but I loved it!

Cheers Simon.

Hi. I've only just come across this site in the last couple of days. As usual I am quite often late for the party. But better late than never. Came across it looking for any info on 232 OCU at Gaydon. My late father was stationed there and we lived on the camp from 1958 until his demob in 1965. Always been interested in all aspects of the RAF from its RFC days upto now. I was born in the RAF Hospital Ely in 1954 so did 11 years in the "RAF" upto 1965. Though I did try to official join in 1974 but got turned down. Their loss. Anyway I digress. My son is building a couple of Airfix Valiants and he asked me if I knew any serial numbers of those at Gaydon. Found some from this site so sent them on to him so he can complete his models.
My interest in the RAF has never waited and have a reasonable library of books on it. Much to my wife's disgust. Says I should get rid of them once you've read them. She doesn't understand that have to refer back to them at any time.
I'm trying to get some books on The Suez Campaign and in particular any on the Meteor NF13s of 39 squadron. I have some photos my dad took of them when he worked on them prior to being posted back from Malta to Gaydon to then work on the Victor's. I have been given a kit of an NF13 by my son so want to find the serial numbers of those allocated to 39 squadron. So hopefully I will soon find them.

Hi a big thankyou for letting me join this excellence forum.
Have been interested in aircraft for the past 30 years.
Although the hobby has declined in many different types over the years. We all still hope we get rare types of aircraft here.
Thankfully have the Indian mirages at Waddington that will create alot of intrest for the spotters including myself. I have attended many airshows over the last 20/ 30 years. Hopefully will see you around Waddington or Coningsby next week

Joined a while ago but wasn't a massively active user. On board now thought.

Based out of Glasgow, so most of moves I see are PIK.

Have been to Brize and Fairford.

Also spent my work experience in ATC at Brize, the best part of 23 years ago.
