We are where we are, partly because of the Gordon Brown job creation scheme for ship builders. Interesting that the new RFA ship commissioned today was built in Korea.
Suggestion mothball the carriers as they unlikely to be sellable. There an insurance policy for the Falklands. Don't buy anymore F35s and delay deliveries. Immediately scrap Tornado. Cancel the P8. Longterm extend Waddington, it's cheaper to avoid trying to boom our tankers and enhances Rivet Joint operations. Keep the Marines, they a valuable resource. Don't expect any extra cash, and regain HM Treasury confidence by cooperating closely with them: they might allow some flexible financing. No doubt these suggestions are upsetting. MOD does not deserve control of the services; it's unfit for purpose so why not scrap it and allow the services to manage themselves.

Brexit and the resulting devaluation of the pound has been a huge factor in all this when you consider what is being purchased from the US. Go Brexit!
