I've made an "inventory" of ex-RAF C-130Js today, 10-Sep-2024. There are 11 aircraft outside: 74 and 65 on the side of H17; 69, 79, 67, 70 and 72 in the front of H17; and 71, 89, 88 and 68 near the tower. The remaining four aircraft: 66, 75, 77 and 78, are currently inside.
Update:
the above was in the morning. In the afternoon, 66 was parked outside on the side of H17, whereas 70 and 68 went inside.

Thanks for the updated list chaps. I'm passing Cambridge next week for the first time in many years (>20 years). Could you supply locations or lat / long where to get any view of the foreign C-130's? Is it still a lay-by off Airport Way? Can anything be seen from the northwest / hangars side of the airfield?
Many thanks...there's a couple of gems there for me at the moment.

On the main September Monthly list showing both 169066 and 168066 as arriving on the 18th presume a typo.

Don't know any lay-bys on Airport Way but there is Crash Gate 4 near the 40 sign and opposite the 23 threshold. Zoom in on Google enough and you'll see a tiny 4.
There is also a crash gate with verge parking under trees almost straight across from 4 but no good for planes amongst the hangars.
Also the footpath along the fence if you park near 20 March Lane and walk about a mile north.
There are also gates on Coldhams Lane but difficult parking without a long walk back to the east.

Kings Meadow off Coldhams Lane gives some good views, and easy to stop if driving.

Stopped briefly around 6pm 18th Sept and noticed one (presumed ex RAF Herc) tail on had the grey rudder, but also a 2/3rds grey fin with a large white '56' painted on it. Can't see it noted in the excellent logs above so any offers on it's I/D? MTIA, Rob

On a visit on the morning of the 16th Sept, I noted;
ZH870 (56 yrs) back outside, with G-273 and 7 other RAF ones, Front and side of H17,
also 4 RAF ones near the control tower,
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Les
