Was thinking about paying a visit next Weds or Thurs. Is the base ok with people watching and places to park or do you get moved on and is there much activity on said Day's ?

No issues with security and if they do come to you, they cannot move you on from public land.
Best viewing is at crash gate 1 on the South of the airfield. Jump the red gate and walk down the side of the field and set up at the next red gate. Good views down the main runway and to the visitors pan.
Prob just be DHFS helis operating though and unlikely any fixed wing or fast in, as quite rare these days.
