Hi All,

Well she has taken almost 3 months to the day - and it was hard going all the way to the end, but I must say that I am very pleased.

Kit: Monogram F-101 Voodoo
Scale: 1/48
Extras:Eagle Strike Decals (48244 Voodoo Part 5)
Quickboost Resin intakes
Master metal pitot tube
Eduard Photoetch
Eduard Masks
Paint: Vallejo Primer, Tamiya and Vallejo Model Air, Model Masters Aluminum for tanks
Extras: Klear, Flory Model Black Wash

This kit has lovely detail in the cockpit and wheel bays, and really does not need any photoetch. But it does have raised panel lines, so a full sand and rescribe was in order. Please bear in mind that this is the first full model that I have ever tried this with - towards the end I was quite proficient, but at the start I think I spent more time filling in the mistakes than scribing! But I am happy.

The decalling went well, I managed to get all the decals to sit down - I even tried Tamiya thinners - OMG I was shocked at the bubbling, but left her be - and all was well in the end!

The build thread is here - viewtopic.php?f=291&t=71765" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So without any more, onto the final photos

I was really pleased with the scribing around the cockpit (done last) and the decals set it off.

Sorry about my screen not being wide enough

Image

The best bit of the photoetch was for the airbrakes, well worth it

Image

Exhaust cans - you can just pick up the fan blades

Again sorry for the width of the backdrop

The FLIR came out ok in the end, Clear Blue Tamiya on the flat black worked really well

Image

Image

The underside was stragiht forward enough, though I was really afraid to take any glue or superglue near the tanks, so I set it with PVA - which meant one tank dried slightly out of alignment

Image

The exhaust cans came out well, again stuck with PVA due to my fear of glue and metalisers

And finally a shot of the cockpit, the RIO is waving.

Thats it guys, really enjoyed this one, and it has been hard work, but very rewarding

All comments appreciated, including areas that you think that I can improve on

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Steve, just measured her, she is 45cm long (almost 18 inches in old money) and 26cm wide (10 inches) - abit of a beast. Will post photos next to some of my other 1/48 soon!

Patrick - thanks, or thank you Eclair?
