RAF Lakenheath Theme Build

Post by Seamus » Fri Aug 13, 2021 7:13 am

Morning all,

I don't normally post my models on here, but with so many Lakenheath regulars I thought it might be worth sharing my latest project of building all the jet types that have been operated by the 48FW out of LN. All are 1/72.

Very nice indeed - some great spraying work on the F-4 and F-111 camo schemes. All look like really nice builds but as a big fan of the Aardvark it has to be the F-111F for me. I'm working on Hasegawa's FB-111A in the 1978 Tiger Meet scheme at the moment - lovely kits.

An excellent collection you have there, the F100D is a cracker, but all are great builds.

Although I live in Scotland when my Late Father and I used to drive South for a few Days Lakenheath and Mildenhall were always stops on our "tour" and we spent a good part of a Morning between the two ah they were the days and seeing these Models just reminds me of the times we stopped for a look at The Heath when we were passing, unfortunately I'm too Young to remember the F-4 Phantoms but the Aardvark - Fs (as I called them) and the F-15 Eagle/ Strike Eagles were awesome, If I remember correctly is that the F-100D Super Sabre which is the Gate Guard at Lakenheath?

Also I have to ask, are you eventually going to make an F-35 when they start being based at Lakenheath?

Yep, there's an F-35A in the stash waiting for the day a decal sheet with LN jets included is released

They are superb and very well detailed. Great work

I've thought about doing a similar thing in 1/48 - F-15C and F-111F already built, maybe a future project!
