Revell 1/32 RF-4C 26 TRW
Hi
Bit of a struggle with this one , losing a bit of mojo
Friday 25th May 1979 on the way to Mildenhall Air Fete caught this 26 TRW RF-4C blasting out of Alconbury , always thought it a bit interesting in having LORAN aerials on , just takem me a little while to get around to making it
Kit is the Revell RF-4C using quick boost resin seats and the Towel Rail aerial from a Tamiya F-4C/D with Xtracolor enamels and Aero Decal decals finished with Alclad Semi Matt varnish
Thanks for looking
Time for a break I think
Cheers
Paul

Nice one!
Re: Revell 1/32 RF-4C 26 TRW
Up to your usual standard Paul. Excellent work.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Re: Revell 1/32 RF-4C 26 TRW
That is very nice indeed
Re: Revell 1/32 RF-4C 26 TRW
Paul, that is just gorgeous
RF's were just my favourite,whether 'C' or German 'E'
Have noted that all models in which ever scale in USAF all feature the more angled/chisel nose when some frames incl. Alconbury's had the more curved/radius under nose fitted.
Don't know if this was ever included in any model or is it just a personal mod ?
Thanks for posting
Best regards

Thank you
Both the RF-4B and RF-4C came off the line with either nose fitted , the rounder nose being considered more aerodynamic with a bit more room inside.
Alconbury had both nose styles think this shot shows it quite well
USAF RF-4C 50565 , 50568 AR 10 TRWa by pip1047, on Flickr
I remember the Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4 , not sure which boxing , having both nose shapes in it , the whole of the underside of the nose was moulded in clear plastic , it was quite effective
Thanks for the comments

Thanks for reply Paul, yes indeed that clearly shows the two types of nose profile.
Keep the models coming they're great and got me building again

Hi Keith
No problem
Glad you are building again , been having a rest from posting as I thought people might be getting a bit fed up with me
Cheers

No way! keep them coming!, that is a superb build of the RF-4C. Always liked this variant, it had a great look about it, helped I think by a school visit to the 10 TRW at Alconbury in about 1984. I too have one in the stash and have been doing a whole lot more modelling during COVID. Great to get back to it.
