RAF Boston 'Beer is Best' Lockdown(?) Project 5.
Hi All
Lockdown continues (in a fashion) and so does the 1/72 production line. Another US built type in RAF roundels. This time 88sqn RAF Douglas Boston, it's the Special Hobby Kit. Looked corking in the box, but assembly was challenging. The clear parts in particular- if I was told they were intended for a different kit I would believe it. The fit was terrible, the clear part for the nose was ridiculously different in size to the fuselage, the top of the canopy assembly was a different width to the lower section and the windscreen snapped clean in half when I tried to trim a lug from the front of it! Also for some reason I couldn't fathom, possibly due to a mistake on my part, the nose gear ended up 5mm at least shorter than the main gear. I therefore had to build my own nose wheel leg. That being said, I'm reasonably pleased with the end result and took a strange enjoyment in the challenges of the build. Enough waffle- Beer is indeed best...

Nice. I was thinking of doing the Revell Boston V, my Dad flew them in Italy in 1944/45 on 55 Sqn.
