This is another little kit that I need to get together in a short time. It will be finished in the markings of the 'Red Barons' all red mount from the movie of the same name.

Hi Steve :P

I bought/made this as one of my first kits; Series 1; 2/- (that's 2 shillings), in a plastic bag, and I made a pigs breakfast of it at 10 yrs old

Sure you will do better ;)

Cheers

Patrick

I have to say i'm really baffled by airfixs choice to have this kit as this years 'make and take' kit. The idea being that kids can put it together quickly and simply. When are wings on a bi-plane ever simple and quick to attach? The kit is fairly simple but I think it looks good when put together so i'm considering getting a few more.

I've got a little bit of tidying up to do on the kit and the prop needs some work with oil paint for the wood effect (need to find that Airfix guide) In the movie the crosses appeared none faded, unlike the real thing which seem to have a thin red coat applied over them so the decal work shouldn't take long and is my plan for the rest of the evening.

Built this one a few years ago as a introduction to modelling! :D Currently got one on the bench, but need to get round to finish it, watching this with interest!

This is where this build is at. I'm not happy with the prop and it will need some more work, not helped by the fact that I can't find my brown oil paints and guide for wood effects! :grr: I also need to source another set of the fuselage crosses for the vertical stabiliser so it'll be a few days before this is done, but it pretty much is.
