Re: tc`s 2015 Build of Mystery
Steve...., your back..
Haven`t had much time recently to fiddle with the plastic so very little has been achieved.
Saying that, it did take me a good day or so to get the collapsed u/c to stick in the correct place and even then I still think it`s a little bit off. I may have to ad a `based on` title to the finished build....

I also went into the spares box and added a couple of black boxes you would expect to find in the rear fuselage section of a Hellcat.

..... and before anyone mentions it..., yes the base is just being used for the update and is not part of the dio.....

Re: tc`s 2015 Build of Mystery
With my Photobucket now fixed I can at last update the crash dio build.
Now some of you may remember I placed my little disclaimer at the beginning of this thread clearly stating that this build may be `based` on this particular crash. Well like all good Hollywood films, I calling in that disclaimer now.
I original intention was to build, at least in some part, some of the super structure of the carriers island that the Hellcat crashed into. Well I`m afraid that`s been shelved due to time constraints, cash and storage when complete issues. (You could also add a little bit of inexperienced modelling skills into the equation).
So I`m just going with a simple carrier base and that`s it. This arrived today in the shape of the Eduard Kits 1:48 US Navy Aircraft Carrier Deck base which after a spray paint and a bit of weathering will do very nicely thank you very much.
I completed the rear fuselage section....,

..... before moving onto a bit more detail on the front end.

Here`s all the main sections on the base in one picture.

I now need to add a little bit more detail in the shape of deck stains, scuffs and debris from the accident with the last item to build being the advancing fire fighter and hose. For this I have a few figure bits and spare wire which I can work with.

Thanks for looking and more soon.

Re: tc`s 2015 Build of Mystery
Thanks chaps.
Spent the last day or so pretending to be Dr Frankenstein as I put together the rescue crewman from spare figure bits, (The arms, legs, torso and head are all from different figures), and eventually came up with this....

The hose is a bit of old wire.
When put together with the cockpit and base and then added the odd Photobucket effect...., you end up with a little game of `spot the difference`......

ok....., perhaps it`s not quite that much of a game...??

Re: tc`s 2015 Build of Mystery
Cheers guys.
Hopefully it`s close enough.
As mentioned before mate, this is a `based on` build, so I`m not too fussed about getting it exact. There`s too many unknowns and not enough photo evidence to get an exact match.steve149c wrote:Great work TC - spot the difference huh
