Airfix 1:48 De Havilland mosquito PR XVI

Post by aviationcafe » Sat Aug 23, 2014 6:44 pm

Hello,

With work on the Tamiya Mosquito almost complete (just awaiting paint masks to arrive via Royal Mail), and the Swordfish's white coat drying in the airing cupboard, I thought I may start this kit so for now here's the unboxing:

Box art depicting: NS502M from 544 Squadron RAF Benson June 1944:

Decals Depicting the above mentioned Mosquito and MM367 from 684 Squadron based at RAF Dum Dum in India:

All in all it looks like it should go together without any problems, I'm going to be finishing this in the 684 squadron scheme which is an Aluminium fuselage & wings, with Midnight Blue stripes on the wings/elevators/rudder.

Thanks for looking!

The spare fuselage answer is it has the window ahead of the cockpit as per the aircraft on the box artwork. The other doesn't :halo:

Thanks for that Tim.

Found something interesting though on one of the fuselage's, which the model shop I bought it from is absolutely shocked at... There is a date stamped inside which shows 1980 as well as the part number which doesn't correlate to the part number on the instructions!

That is odd...!

I don't think they had even thought of a 1/48th Mossie in 1980 :S :S :S

Hello,

Sorry for the delay in updating this, With the Southport Airshow and a few other things going on, both this and the Swordfish have been on the sidelines for way over a month. give the sprue's a light dusting of Silver, and have assembled the internals of the cockpit:
