How do you weather your planes?

Post by LightningGoose » Thu Aug 04, 2011 2:41 pm

I have made a few models now, and I was wondering exactly how you weather the planes? I don't have an airbrush, do you need one to do it properly? I think they would all look a lot more interesting on my shelf with a bit of wear and tear! Thanks.

I used the advice from this guy for doing my 109. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSj1Ue8v ... k4&index=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I don't have an airbrush so I try to do my best with brushes. Other than that I just keep trying the web for different techniques but I'm yet to find a decent how to guide. Youtube, i find quite useful as it shows them doing what they advise and I just follow.

When I do weather them, I mainly use dry-brushing - it's somewhat improvised, with an emphasis on the dry.

I have also tried using some mascara from Poundland - Tamiya sell mascara to modellers as "weathering powder" and charge a whole lot more for it.
