Vallejo / Humbrol Conversion

I am switching to vallejo paints (bottles seem sensible for dispensing) and I have a question regarding the conversion charts.

some Humbrol colours are converted to a colour and a finish (satin/gloss etc) say 950+522.

Do you mix the two items and apply OR do you apply a coat of paint and finish witha coat of say satin ?

Which conversion chart are you reffering to? The ultimate paint chart on here or another, as there is so many.
